Emerging Greeks Award 2026
The Emerging Greeks Award 2026 went to Elena’s Shift by Stefanos Tsivopoulos.
The winner of the Emerging Greeks Award, which is accompanied by the amount of 1,000 euros and sponsored by Ertflix was the film Elena’s Shift by Stefanos Tsivopoulos under the following justification: “The filmmaker tells an emotional and insightful story of contemporary Greece. We follow a young immigrant mother in her fight against bureaucracy and exploitative working conditions, as well as her longing for personal happiness, family, love, and self-determination. The Emerging Greeks Award goes to Elena’s Shift by Stefanos Tsivopoulos, starring Maria-Victoria Dragus”.
The award was received by Stefanos Tsivopoulos, director of the film.
The Documentary Award 2026 went ex aequo to Who Was Here? by Evi Stamou and Return To Homeland by Chryssa Tzelepi and Akis Kersanidis
The winner of the Documentary Award, which is accompanied by the amount of 500 euros and sponsored by Musou Music Group, were ex aequo the following documentary films:
Who Was Here? by Evi Stamou under the following justification: “Using artificial intelligence in a highly creative manner, the director fills in the blanks of her father’s biography. She masterfully combines his personal life with the history of their country. The Documentary Award goes ex aequo to Who Was Here? by Evi Stamou.”
and
Return To Homeland by Chryssa Tzelepi and Akis Kersanidis under the following justification: “Almost a century later, this documentary shows the strong impact of the Nazi regime on our daily lives. The filmmakers follow their protagonist very closely and intimately on his journey to a homeland that he always neglected. Witnessing his past is a clear warning not to forget and always to remember: Nie wieder ist jetzt (Never again). The Documentary Award ex aequo goes to Return To Homeland by Chryssa Tzelepi and Akis Kersanidis.”
The award was received by Chryssa Tzelepi and Akis Kersanidis, directors of the film.
The Short Film Award 2026 went to Gekas by Dimitris Moutsiakas
The winner of the Short Film Award, which is accompanied by the amount of 500 euros and sponsored by Illuseum Berlin, was the short film Gekas by Dimitris Moutsiakas under the following justification: “For its sensitive approach to the topics of masculinity and intergenerational trauma, its mesmerizing cinematography, and its depiction of underrepresented realities in Greece, the Short Films Award, sponsored with 500 euros by Illuseum Berlin goes to Gkekas by Dimitris Moutsiakas.”
A Special Mention was awarded to the film Hopepunk by Vasiliki Lazaridou under the following justification: “For its distinctive visual language, its entertaining approach to complex topics, and genre-bending story, a special mention goes to Hopepunk by Vasiliki Lazaridou.”
