The international LGBTIQ film festival of  Athens visits Hellas Filmbox with 3 short films presented by Maria “Cyber” Katsikadakou, creator and director of “Outview”

Konstantinos lives his life freely in a body of his own choice. Vassilis returns to his parents’ home to make a new start. A wooden box safeguards the past of two brothers torn apart by their mother. The sudden news of an accident will tip the scales. The box has been opened. Vassilis stands up to his mother’s obsessions. He wants to get to know his brother for a second time.

Panayotis Kountouras

was born in Thessaloniki/Greece and he is a student at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (School of Film Studies, Faculty of Arts). He is the director of the documentary films “Heroes of the Flicks” and “From the Courtyards to the Living Rooms”. “A Box Made of Wood” is his second awarded short film. He is involved in musical theater industry as an actor/writer and works as a director for television series and advertisment productions.

Adam Karypidis

studied Directing at New York College Athens.
He directed, written and produced 5short movies.The 1st in 2008 was “179.99” and won 3 awards at the 1st 48hours film project including best screenwriting and best female lead.The 2nd in 2009 was “The comic shop movie” which participated in Drama International Festival’s Digi ’09 and Naousa intl Festival 2010. The 3rd in 2010 was “Elegy”, an experimental green docudrama.The 4th in 2011 was “Hunting Frogs” which was elected to contest at the 34th Drama Intl Festival and won a nomination for best female lead.His last movie “Fuck Freud” was made in 2012 and participated in Drama International Film Festival (2012), AIFF (2012) and got the 1st prize in the Athens Outview Film Festival (2015).

Nana – by Lara Christen

The documentary Nana is the portrait of a seventy-year-old trans woman who lives in Thessaloniki. The combination of narrative, observation and archival footage creates an image of her chequered past, as well as the hard everyday life a trans person faces in Greek reality.

Lara Kristen

graduate of the School of Film Studies in Thessaloniki, participated in the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival with the films ”The Massage” (2013) and “Nana” (2015), which is her dissertation. “Nana” has also been screened at other film festivals in Greece and abroad. In 2013 she worked as cinematographer in the documentary ”Krito the Acrobat”, a production of the Greek National Television. In 2015 she made the Making of ”A mon âge je me cache encore pour fumer”, a feature film produced by KG Productions.

 

Maria Cyber / Katsikadakou

is the creator and director of “Outview”, Athens’ international LGBTIQ film festival. In April 2016 she will present the 10th edition of this annual event. Through her background in photography, graphic and web design and film, she has been able to showcase her work internationally, always containing lesbian images and themes, and she has been bringing influences back to Greece through cultural events dating back to the early 1990ties under the title “Cybedykes” culture events for lesbian visibility. She is one of the first lesbian activists of the Greek Gay & Lesbian scene in Athens. She has been an active member of the Greek Homosexual Community, Lesbian Group of Athens and many other LGBT groups in Greece since 1986. In 2000 she created and still runs the biggest Greek Lesbian Portal www.lesbian.gr. From 2000 to 2005 she ran and presented the first and only weekly Greek Gay and Lesbian Radio Show in a FM station in Athens. The show was censored in January of 2005, witch led her to start a web radio in 2007 called Mind Radio. www.mindradio.gr In 2005 she organized “The 1st Gay and Lesbian pornographic art film festival” in Athens. After contracting diabetes type 1 in 2009 her focus has shifted more into strengthening the diabetic community where she created the portal www.glykouli.gr.
